Knightsbridge is an area recognised worldwide and known to be one of the most prestigious and ultra-expensive residential areas of London. Located within the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, the residents comprise many of the world’s richest people and investors - much of the property in Knightsbridge is generally referred to as Ultra Prime Property.

Knightsbridge stretches from south of Hyde Park (London’s largest park), east of the South Kensington, west of Belgravia, and north of Chelsea. The area includes the sought after garden squares such as Lennox Gardens and Cadogan Square.

Large parts of Knightsbridge and Chelsea, especially in and around Cadogan Square are owned by Earl Cadogan, an aristocratic Landlord who also holds the title Viscount Chelsea.

Property influences in Knightsbridge are Victorian and Edwardian with mansion flats and period conversions dominating the Knightsbridge property market as well as houses which are in great demand. In addition, there are stunning new developments such as “One Hyde Park” which is adjacent to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, and “The Knightsbridge”.

Knightsbridge is home to exclusive shops, including the department stores Harrods and Harvey Nichols, and flagship stores of many British and international fashion houses. In addition, there are cafes, restaurants, excellent schools and an international/cosmopolitan feel to the area.

Brief history of Knightsbridge

Knightsbridge was originally a small area outside the City of London, between the villages of Chelsey (now known as Chelsea) and Kensing town (now known as Kensington). It was named after a crosssing of the River Westbourne (which is now an underground river) when Matilda (daughter of King Henry I) met the citizens of London in 1141 at the Knight's Bridge.
